Once a cheerful, outgoing, gentle, and happy-go-lucky young man, Tohru was very friendly towards everyone! It didn't matter if they were locals, outsiders, or strangers. He loved video games, and he cares very much about his family.
But after his death, and becoming a Shiki, his gentle personality stays, but he ends up loosing his cheerful, positive exterior, and it is replaced with guilt, and self-loathing, for he has to kill even when he does not want to, for it is key to his survival. He becomes a reluctant killed, since he is unable to stop himself. The starvation is to painful to bear. He ends up becoming VERY guilty and he is forced to kill his best friend, Natsuno, or else his entire family will be killed. And this results in Tohru becoming depressed, and bitter.
